WCSJ2015-SEOUL

June 8 - 12, 2015, Coex, Seoul, Korea

Welcome

Greetings, everyone.

My name is Shim Jae-eok, and I am the president
of the Korean Science Journalists Association.

Shim Jae-eok

I would like to invite you with open arms to the World Conference of Science Journalists 2015, which will bring together journalists, science reporters and the renowned scientists who are leading development and communications around the world.

The World Conference of Science Journalists 2015, which is marking its 9th conference this year, is one of the biggest biennial events in science journalism. The event has served as a venue for discussion of major current issues among scientists, administrators, educators, students, and the general public, as well as journalists covering science, resulting in the mutual growth of both science and science journalism.

The theme of this year’s event, which will be held at COEX in Seoul, Korea from June 8 to 12, 2015, is "Expanding our horizons!"

These days, science has developed to the point where it has transformed the lives of people in core ways. As well, people today are increasingly interested in gaining scientific knowledge. As a result, science journalists must assume the daunting task of verifying scientific facts while also reporting on a wide variety of scientific fields. This event will be a venue for all journalists, scientists and modern people living in this era of the sea change to expand their intellectual horizons by discussing the role of journalism and how it addresses the needs of civilization, and reviewing the current challenges and developmental phases of every sector in science.

Every member of Korean Science Journalists Association feels privileged to be organizing the biggest event in this field, and we firmly believe that it will provide an invaluable opportunity to build stronger international solidarity among scientists in the Asian countries, and in the wider world. Furthermore, you may remain assured that we will spare no effort to help this event contribute to humanity under the name of science and science journalism.

We are anxious to see all of you, with the belief that the World Conference of Science Journalists 2015 in Seoul will provide you with unforgettable moments during your stay.

We cannot wait to give you a warm welcome to Seoul this June, and expect your huge support. Thank you.

The chairman of WCSJ 2015
Shim Jae-eok, president of Korea Science Journalists Association
